Ways we can help

Primary Services

Trauma

Trauma therapy is a form of psychological treatment that is designed to help individuals who have experienced traumatic events or situations. Trauma can manifest in many forms, including physical and emotional abuse, neglect, accidents, and natural disasters, among others. Trauma therapy can help clients to process their experiences, understand the impact that the trauma has had on their life, and develop coping strategies to manage the symptoms of trauma, such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Trauma therapy helps the client to learn how to process and express the emotion of the trauma and integrate the knowledge that comes from it, to feel more in control of themselves and their environment. It can help clients to move past the traumatic event and towards a more fulfilling life.

Betrayal Bonds

Betrayal bonds are formed when an individual is repeatedly betrayed by someone they trust and rely on, such as a partner, family member, or friend. These bonds can cause feelings of intense emotional pain, betrayal, and a sense of violation. The trauma can be psychological, emotional and/or physical. A counseling therapy can help clients understand and process the betrayal, as well as work through the negative emotions and thoughts that have arisen as a result of the betrayal. They can also help clients set healthy boundaries and create a supportive network of friends and family members. Counselors can use various therapeutic approaches to help clients develop coping mechanisms, regain a sense of control, and process the feelings of betrayal and anger. Furthermore, counselor can help client to identify any negative patterns in their relationships, that might have contributed to the formation of the betrayal bond and work on ways to avoid them in the future. In summary, Betrayal Bond counseling can help clients to move forward in their lives, establish healthier relationships, and find healing from the betrayal they have experienced.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a form of psychological treatment that is designed to help individuals who have experienced traumatic events or situations. The therapy uses bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, taps, or sounds, to help the brain process traumatic memories and reduce their emotional charge. During the therapy, the client is asked to recall a traumatic event while the therapist guides them through the bilateral stimulation. This allows the client to process the traumatic memory in a new way, reducing the emotional intensity of the memory and making it less overwhelming. EMDR therapy can also help clients to develop new coping strategies and perspectives, leading to a reduction of symptoms related to traumatic stress such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

EMDR therapy is widely recognized as an effective treatment for trauma and has been recommended by various professional organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

EMDR can be effective to help clients with specific traumatic memories, complex traumatic events, developmental traumatic experiences, and even emotional distress that is not related to any specific memories. Additionally, EMDR can also be used to help clients overcome negative beliefs and fears that may have developed as a result of the traumatic event, leading to an overall improvement in overall well-being.

OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a condition characterized by persistent, unwanted thoughts, ideas, or sensations (obsessions) that drive the individual to perform repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) in response. These compulsions are intended to reduce the anxiety caused by the obsessions, but they often provide only temporary relief and can become overwhelming and disruptive to a person’s life.

Counseling, specifically Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), is an evidence-based treatment for OCD. It can help clients to understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in relation to their obsessions and compulsions, and learn new ways to manage them. CBT helps clients to identify and challenge their irrational thoughts and beliefs that are maintaining their obsessions and compulsions, and also to learn and practice new coping skills such as exposure and response prevention (ERP). ERP involves gradually confronting the feared object or situation while resisting the urge to perform the compulsive behavior, in order to habituate the anxiety and reduce the compulsions over time.

CBT for OCD can also involve family therapy, where family members learn how to support the individual with OCD, and mindfulness-based strategies can be used as well. The therapy can be very effective in reducing symptoms, improving daily functioning and overall well-being.
